    great blue w egg-profile
    [original]

    PRICE$168.00

The verticality of this piece is very apt, in that it portrays the long-legged, long-necked great blue heron. With this verticalityHaida artist Darrel Amos is reminiscent of John James Audubon's work, as Audubon had to "fit" his birds into the constraints of the published page. There was some "distortion" of the shape, but the essence of the subject was sustained. So it is with Darrell Amos' great blue heron, which also has a single, large egg embedded in its centre. The eyes and incipient beak are clearly visible. The vertical red swathes at the base are the body feathers of the heron. On acid-free art paper, V 18: x H12"
