    arctic hunter
    [soapstn-alab]

    PRICE$390.00

height 11.5 cm (4.5 "), base 7.5 cm (3.5") Gil Daniels, a member of the Athabasca/Chipewyan Nation of the North West Territory, has created a dynamic figure -- a hunter poised, focused, with the spear raised as the hunter concentrates on the task at hand. The face is framed by the fur hood, with the fringe of it and the sleeves clearly delineated. The head is detailed such that even the hank of hair draping over his forehead is clearly discernible. The spear is wood, with the cording of moose sinew, and the tip is of stone. The hunter is a deep green soapstone, with the base of a brown alabaster. The spear can be removed for safe shipping or for any moving from place to show place in your home or office. This is a very solid piece, artistically and in being of this beautiful, highly polished stone. Gilbert Daniels works with the Foredom carving grinder, using various sizes of drill bit to create the precise, carefully articulated works of art in the Inuit style.
