    white raven's head
    [acrylic on a]

    PRICE$90.00

v 56 x h35 cm Darrell Amos created this design for a friend's drum head. The white raven is encircled by a white band, that is a kind of extension of the raven itself. The spikes at the bottom of the design are the throat feathers that form a kind of beard on ravens, which -- at a glance -- is one of the main distinguishing feature of ravens from crows. There are white ravens in Haida Gwaii -- well documented as a sub-species or genetic variation that does reproduce. They are not albino. The background paper is itself black, with a slight sheen. The impact of the white design is enhanced by this.
