    Killer whl-larg -vert plaq
    [red cedar w]

    PRICE$95.00

vertical 45 cm x Horizontal 15 cm depth 2cm This is a momentary departure from the beautiful feathers carved by Len McKay, as he presents a substantial wall plaque of a killer whale. Reading from the top, there is the erect dorsal fin, indicating a male, and just to the left base of the fin is the small blow hole. Next is the curve of the powerful ribcage, the head to the left with the teeth showing, and then the main body, with the pectoral fin to its left. The sweep of the flukes is clear and powerful. The wood is red cedar, with a light stain of brown shoe polish - the preferred stain for the artists Indian Art brings to the public from the "edge." It is buffed thoroughly to give it the finished, warm appearance-- and the soft feel of the wood as well.
