    cloud of hummingbirds

    PRICE$85.00

v18h40cmx2.5thk (v 7” x h 16” X 1” ) The carvings of George Matilpi, of the Kwakiutl Nation, from Alert Bay, always have a clear story, and are often rather light-hearted in tone. This is a cloud of hummingbirds. One has its beak drawing nectar from deep in a flower, others are hovering here and there, perhaps to take up sipping at the same flower soon. You can almost hear the buzz of the rapidly whizzing wings. The carving is a wall plaque, and would fit easily over desk or counter top. It is of spruce, with acrylic paints used and a light wax polish stain that is buffed to a soft shine.
