    Blue Frog Disk
    [original]

    PRICE$245.00

Haida artist Eric Parnell has an infinite number of ways or portraying the mythical creatures as seen through the eyes of his cultural traditions. This is a very complex, marvellously conceived image of a frog. What at first glance seems an abstraction of the frog, becomes a very detailed and quite literal recounting of it – they eyes with their vertical pupils, the tongue, the spider-like “toes”, all encompassed in one circle shape. The outside corners are simply “decorative,” using the familiar circles and soft triangles to complement the presentation overall. The blue background continues over the sides of the frame, making it stand out physically and being particularly amenable for some imaginative placement by the collector. This painting is on canvas, with a frame 1 ½” deep, and 10”x10” (390 grams).
