    Heart-shaped Wolf
    [Limited edit]

Haida artist Eric Parnell is often drawn to creating images within circles or heart shapes. This is a wolf, often portrayed as dangerous or threatening, but in this painting Eric presents the wolf an almost playful position. It is crouching, perhaps ready to pounce in play with others in the pack. It’s paws are stretched out in front, the muscular body in the lower centre of the heart and the plumed tail drawn out along the periphery of the heart. The portrait is very active, the wolf in motion, contained but somehow not constrained. The square shape of the painting overall makes for a distinctive portrait, easily framed. Limited edition (out of 100), acrylic paint on acid-free heavy art card. 13” x 13”
