    Blue Dragonfly

This is a relatively small, very concise painting by Saulteaux artist, Stephanie Kewistep. Stephanie specializes in the use of spare, crisp lines, drawing on images that appeal to her as being beautiful and interesting in themselves. Here she has portrayed a dragonfly, giving it a kind of “lift” of its own. The blue darner dragonfly is a common one of ponds and streams, but this is not a “literal” painting, but rather one that conveys its darting, efficient movement, and streaming lines. On framing cardboard, acrylic paint. V 8 ½ x H 8 ½
